Nancy B. Emerson Lombardo, PhD has worked for over 40 years in the fields of Alzheimer’s disease and services for older adults. She is a founder of both the national Alzheimer’s Association and Alzheimer’s Disease International. During the past decade she has developed lifestyle interventions for both treatment and prevention of Alzheimer’s disease, and to improve quality of life for older adults. Her most important recent effort is the development of Memory Preservation Nutrition (R) © 2005,2006, a nutritional program for the dual purposes of helping people reduce their own risk of Alzheimer’s disease, and to slow progression and improve the lives of persons who have already living with Alzheimers’. In addition to her research work, Dr. Emerson Lombardo offers consultation and educational services about “healthy living for a healthy brain” to individuals, families and health care providers. She is has implemented her Memory Preservation Nutrition program in several Assisted Living residences, a state of the art adult day program in Texas, and a mixed age residential religious community. She is a popular speaker and has presented to a variety of professional, clinical and lay audiences around the world.
Dr. Emerson Lombardo is expert in organizing interdisciplinary and multicultural project teams and facilitating collegial, collaborative innovative efforts in clinical practice, research, education, and public policy. Dr. Emerson Lombardo has extensive research experience including work with innovative interventions for frail elders and caregivers, educational programs, surveys and policy analyses on mental health issues of the elderly, and evaluations using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
Past memberships include the American Society on Aging and the Gerontological Society of America, and the International Academy of Nutrition and Aging.
